Stages...

My work has several stages.
Today I'm on the taking pictures stage... 11 done, 29 to go.
After that it's computer time, upload, rename, organize and upload again...
Almost all the new items are part of the Computer Bits Collection, so if you are into keyboards and keys stop by the store latter this week.

All the supplies I ordered this past weeks are arriving and I'm happy with my head bubbling ideas.
I'm creating new items for the Picture Jewelry Collection, I've been making 25mm. Picture Pendants, Rings and Brooches, but now I have a new 30x40mm. size and I'm adding polymer clay to the mix!
I believe it's going to be great, but I'm still testing. I always make sure nothing breaks and resists day to day use. Quality and detail are very important.

And that's it. I've finished my coffee and I'm heading back to my camera, hoping to make good use of the great sunny afternoon we are enjoying today!

I haven't been around much...
I spend all my time around the Etsy store and Facebook profile and the blog ends up being left behind. After all time does not stretch...

I'm home but I haven't had much time for my crafts.

I have a cousin visiting from Portugal this days and the children are on school vacation, so we have been doing cool things like renting a boat on the lake, playing in the park or taking trips to places like Milan and so on... Friday we plan on taking a guided tour of one of the mountains that surround the city and visit the chocolate museum...

Crafts concerning, I have been doing lots of picture pendants and have some more waiting for supplies to arrive. I'm having lots of fun creating them, and the result is super cute. Today I also made some other [Words] pendants for my cousin to take home as gifts. I'll show them latter when blogger allows me to upload pictures... :P

Well, it wasn't really garbage...
Today, we went to the recycle point and I thought I should look around the huge box were they keep the broken utilities, for some old keyboards. My husband said I was kind of crazy, but I was fine with it, after all I'm a artist and I'm gonna do great things with them!
I took 5 home with me, but I'm sorry I didn't took more. Amongst them was this really cool 1994 Apple keyboard that made my day!
I washed all the keys and now I'm waiting for them to dry. In the meanwhile plans are being made to put them to good use!

I've come to realize that nowadays almost all the accessories I wear are made by me. And I buy from other crafters and stores as well, but at the end of the day I end up choosing my own stuff.
Last Tuesday I made this ring and matching earrings for myself with the purpose of filling a gap in the color range of my collection.
I also made other pairs that will soon be available in the store.

Were made yesterday.

The plan was to sew only two, using the colorful batik fabric and solid black in the back. But then, as usual , I had to do more, so I thought of the scraps leftover from the making of the living room curtains and decided to arrange some squares together. The idea for the red buttons came later as an attempt to match the other fabric, the thread I used to sew them is purple, for an even better combination!

So, here they are... Each one measures 40 x 40 cm. and they look great on my couch.

Oh... And I forgot to mention... They were approved by our cat! :D

This wool bag was made by my 6 year old daughter.
It was her first crafts project when she came to her new school in Switzerland. I love it, the colors, the texture, but mostly I loved the pride she felt when she brought it home and showed me. She uses it a lot, more than some other bags we bought in stores.
I remember I made one of this in school has well, but I was much older and it was more of a purse, it had stripes in white and bright pink and the wool was very thick, inside I had to sew a white silky linen and a button to close it.

I made this keychains for myself, one for my home keys, the other for my car keys.
Don't really know why I never made more of them, they are lovely and very useful.
Note to self: give this ones another chance.

My 6-year-old-soon-to-be-7 daughter thinks that having a crafty mom is seriously cool, she can get special gifs for her friends, she learns how to do new things to show off and most importantly, having access to a closet full of precious materials, that's the best part!
Today we had to select pictures from her grandparents, to make a presentation on white cardboards. She picked the photos, a printed them. Then, they were glued to the cards and the madness began. Buttons, ribbon, flowers, all mixed together in a scrapbook style. The end result was great, especially because we completed the mission in 20/30 minutes. As supplies came out of the closet she would grow more excited, saying hers was going to be the nicest work of them all!
I Could not call everybody to ask for permission to publish pictures online, so Sara's lovely grandparents faces go MIA behind a sweet heart, ok?

Like I said the other day, my computer went to the doctor to change the keyboard. Instead of leaving it there to be destroyed, I asked for the old part back, I had nice ideas for it.
When I got it, I recycled the keys. Some I already used, others I'm saving for new projects. The ones I'm publishing today I made for myself, but there are other rings and earrings that will be available in the store soon.
I'm an Apple fan. I was converted by my husband when my PC died taking a part of my life with it. With no other choice but to use his Mac, I reluctantly started a new profile and fell in love immediately. Now I would not buy any other computer, or telephone, by the way, has I consider my iPhone the greatest invention ever.
This pieces are all made with recycled parts of my Macbook keyboard, they were used time and time again and with them I wrote, not all, but a big part of my blogs. The first thing I wanted to make was a brooch using the word love, then I had to put the power button to good use and after that I started matching keys that would make nice earrings. Here is the result...

I said I was thinking about turtles. Turtles it is.
I don't really remember why I started, but I remember there was a time I made lots of turtles... By the way, this are pins/brooches, handmade with polymer clay and they measure about 6 cm. each. One of this days I must make some more, I regret not keeping one for myself, they were so cute! I also made a much smaller pair of cufflinks, but they were specially made for a gift and I never repeated them.
I believe I sold all of this and some more (except for the white one) in one afternoon at this crafts fair, that day, they were the main attraction on my table.

To express how I feel or tell what I wanted to tell.
I just sit here, looking at the keyboard (witch is brand new, by the way) and nothing, zero... It's frustrating, 'cause I got so many things to talk about. This happens a lot when I'm in the process of creating something that I'm really excited about, like the new rings I made yesterday. I dreamed of them, waked up thinking about nice words to stamp on and what colors to mix... Today I must take some pictures and upload them to the store, I have to remind myself of the last time I waited to take pictures and the pile of stuff I had to photograph in the same day.
Today, words don't come easy, so I'm going to search my hard drive for tomorrows [oldies] Wednesday, I'm thinking about turtles...

[Oldies] Wednesday #2

This week there's no polymer clay, but there is my other favorite material, fabric.
This are belts, or waistbands, I call them Waist Wraps and this are number #2, #5 and #6. The first one I ever made had a more oval cut, to be worn in the waist with the bow in the back, after thinking about it I choose to sew them in a more versatile straight cut, this way, they can still be worn around the waist, but also around the hips, with the bow in the front.
I made two for myself and I use them with a skirt and t-shirt, mostly in the summer... The good thing is that they are one of a kind and can be costume made to fit everyone!

This weekend, while I made my family wonder the halls and aisles of a big tools/supplies shop, I found this perfect all-white matchboxes. I'm planning on using them as gift packages for some of my earrings and necklaces, maybe I'll use a stamp on them, maybe some fabric, a ribbon, the possibilities are endless...

And my mind is already bubbling with cool ideas to use my brand new stamps!

Around when I was twelve or so, back in the 90's, I had lots of penpals all over the world and I guess that my love to get mail comes from there. Even though we lost contact over the years, some I found again on Facebook. Back in those days I remember coming downstairs to check the mailbox all morning and everytime I'd get a reply it was a thrill!

All this to say I love to get mail, I really, really love to receive letters and packages. Since I moved here, I have been using the internet to buy the things I need/want for my crafts. In Portugal I knew the stores, and what to get where, but here I don't and I don't think there are places that sell supplies in a more 'professional' quantity either, not around where I live anyway. Last week I ordered supplies and amongst them were this really cool-all-kind-of-possibilities stamps. I got them today, much sooner than I was expecting and I'm very excited to start working!

This necklace is from 2009. It's big and bold and it has a cool name, it's called Peppermint fun. It's made mostly of polymer clay and some wood beads and it comes in a costume fabric bag.

I love this necklace, the colors, the polka dot beads, as I call them, the size... In fact, I love it so much, I kept it for myself and I don't often do that!

I had the cane already made, but the major inspiration came when I found the peppermint rocaille beads in a store near my house. The same color in two sizes was perfect!

Organize.

I've always been very organized. Too organized I must say, sometimes it gets annoying, even for me...

This restart in a new country and the will to take this passion of mine to another level is forcing me to change the way I used to do things. Today is storage. Mainly the pictures, but also all kinds of files, informations, backups and so on. I'm working on organizing my hard drive but it has been hard to concentrate, I think I'm having a bad day...

For me, the most important thing is not to loose my previous work, so I never let anything go without taking pictures first. In the beginning, when I started my first-ever blog, I photoshoped everything, now I prefer my pictures simple in a good background.

Speaking of the beginning... I deleted all my previous blog posts, so now, to bring back my work in this new version, I'm making wednesday [Oldies] day. Every wednesday I'll post some of my favorites and write a little about the creative process involved.

This is another picture from yesterday photo shoot, bracelets with cute little heart-shaped lockets. They will be available on Etsy later today or maybe tomorrow...

In Portugal, nearby my house, I knew all the good places to take pictures, but here is Switzerland I'm still adjusting...

Today's photos were taken in the park, while the kids played. Dumb me that forgot to recharge the camera's battery yesterday, as result, the thing died in the middle of work... The dumb part also applies to the fact that I still haven't bought a bigger xd card and had to take the Mac along to upload the pictures. But that part I really don't mind... Every time I take it under my arm I always feel a little bit like Carrie Bradshaw, all sexy and smart.

Now that the fun part is over, it's time to work.

Well, this blog is old... My already-readers will notice the change in the language (it was written in portuguese) and mostly the change in the content. The subject is the same, but the approach will be much different, you'll see... For my (hope to get some) new-readers, I must say something about me... My name is on top and the basics about me, right here on the side bar. Something else? Ok. I was born in Lisbon, Portugal but recently moved to Switzerland. I've been crafting forever, I've been selling my crafts for 5 years and my biggest-of-all-dream is to open my own crafts shop.

One who designs accessories, should wear them, right? Today I did.

I'm a proud Pandora collector, the bracelet was a gift from my husband and I ♥ love it, but I don't like to wear it alone. Matching a black and yellow charm, I wore a basic black bracelet from my braided collection and one of my newest creations, a beaded bracelet with a pair of yellow high heels. So in love with them...
